GROUP CLASSES • ST. ALBERT, SHERWOOD PARK & ONLINE
Yoga Nidra, Restorative and Mindfulness classes in St. Albert and online
You know how to sleep. Rest is a different skill.
Three practices for people whose pace of life, or pace of thought, has been high for so long that switching off no longer happens on its own. One hour. No experience needed. Nothing to perform.
A deep nervous system reset, held in a room with other people

Most of us are competent at pushing. Far fewer of us are practised at letting go.
These classes run weekly in St. Albert and online for anyone further afield. They exist for the part of the week where nothing is required of you. Not effort, not flexibility, not achievement. You arrive, you are supported by props and by guidance, and your nervous system is given the conditions it needs to move out of drive and into repair.
Learning to settle in a supported room is what makes settling possible in a difficult meeting, a hard conversation, or a long night. That is the real return on this practice. Not a pleasant hour, but a restful resilience you carry out of the door with you.

Who these classes are for
Open to everyone, at any level of experience. They tend to matter most to people who recognise themselves here.
~ You function well and you are tired in a way that sleep does not touch
~ Your mind stays busy long after your body has stopped
~ You have been running at pace for years and no longer know how to downshift
~ You want depth without performance, and rest without being told to try harder
~ You have never done yoga, or you have done a great deal of it. Both are welcome.
A note on what these classes are. These are group practices, not therapy. They support regulation, rest and awareness, and they do that well. They are not a substitute for individual clinical work, medical care, or mental health treatment. If something deeper is asking for attention, one-to-one work is the right container for it, and you are welcome to enquire about that separately.

THREE PATHWAYS
Choose Your Path
Each class works with the nervous system from a different angle, and each one goes a little further down. They stand alone, and they compound when practised together.

Mindfulness classes
Training attention, not emptying the mind
Mindfulness is often mis-sold as the absence of thought. It is the trainable capacity to notice what is happening in the breath, the body and the mind without immediately reacting to it. When you can observe a thought rather than be carried by it, the patterns that run most of our days become visible. And what becomes visible becomes workable.
SURFACE, WAKING ATTENTION

Restorative yoga
The art of relaxation, where doing less is more
Bolsters, blankets and blocks hold the body completely, so postures can be held for long stretches without effort. Nothing is stretched or forced. The support does the work, and the body slowly stops bracing. Held tissue softens. Breath deepens without being managed. The mind quietens because the body has given it permission to.
BELOW EFFOR, THE BODY LETS GO

Yoga Nidra, guided deep rest
Ancient practice, modern science. Awake at the edge of sleep
Every human being passes through the threshold between waking and sleeping twice a day, largely unnoticed. Yoga Nidra is the practice of remaining awake there. Through gentle breathwork, guided Nidra and sound, you are taken down through progressive layers of letting go into a depth of rest that is difficult to reach by intention alone.

What people notice over time
Rest of this kind has effects that reach further than the class itself. These are the changes people most often report.
✦ Deep rest that accumulates rather than evaporating by Tuesday
✦ Sleep that arrives more easily and holds
✦ A returning sense of connection to yourself, and to what actually matters to you
✦ A calmer baseline, and a nervous system that settles more readily under pressure
✦ Clearer insight and more reliable intuition
✦ Growing awareness of your own habits and reflexes, and so, room to choose differently

Common Questions
Want to go further in?
An hour resets the system. A weekend changes what the system is set to.
Alongside weekly classes, Inner Shift Embodied runs mini retreats, day and multi-day workshops, and longer immersions. Extended time in which the practice can go considerably deeper, without the interruption of ordinary life.
If you want to unwind stuck patterning at a level a single class cannot reach, this is where to look.
